Are you looking to create some Disney magic in your home this December? You’ve come to the right place for some festive inspiration!

One of my family’s favorite ways to make some holiday magic is to plan a movie night! Popcorn, Christmas cookies, and hot cocoa are just the beginning of a perfect night in. Pull out your coziest jammies, socks, and blanket, and you’re all set! Disney Plus has a plethora of holiday classics- from animated favorites to original comedies and seasonal specials; there is something everyone can enjoy! Take a peek at our Disney Plus Christmas Watchlist for some inspiration!

Check out these fun ideas to add a Disney touch to your next movie night!

1. Create a DIY popcorn station for everyone to make a unique popcorn creation. For inspiration, we look to the Kernel Kitchen located at the Confectionery on Main Street USA at Walt Disney World. This area is tucked into the back corner of the Confectionary and allows guests to choose their popcorn flavor, syrup, and toppings for a deliciously unique souvenir! To put together your station, start by gathering some fun-flavored popcorn- cheddar, caramel, and classic butter are all good ideas. Next, melt a variety of chocolate candy melts. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate are classics that pair well with a variety of popcorn flavors and toppings. You can also find colored candy melts at most craft or grocery stores. Finally, the toppings are where you can really get creative! Put a festive spin on things by using crushed candy canes, mint chocolate bits, chopped up gingerbread cookies, seasonal chocolate-coated candies, or fun holiday sprinkles. The possibilities are endless! Take turns letting everyone pick a popcorn flavor, drizzle with chocolate, and top it off with their choice of toppings.

2. The Festival of the Holidays at Epcot has its own Cookie Stroll so why not take a cue from them and make your own version? Have each friend or family member make their favorite cookie recipe, then spend the evening “strolling” around the kitchen to sample all the delicious creations! You could even have the kids make a festival passport and draw or list their favorites! Classic sugar, gingerbread, linzer, peanut butter, thumbprints, chocolate chip…what will you bake up?

3. Craft a gingerbread display! Various Walt Disney World Resorts have impressive gingerbread displays each holiday season! Talented teams of bakers work hard for months to create the elaborate scenes. Put your talents to the test by making your own magical display. Pre cut kits are readily available at most stores throughout the season or you could bake your own cookies to use for the structure. Make it a contest by dividing up your family/friends into groups and see who can put together the best design, or work together to make one large display. Add an extra dose of Disney magic by hiding some hidden Mickeys in your work!

Pro tip- use hot glue to attach the major structure pieces together. It will make things extra sturdy and we’ll never tell your secret. 😉 Just use caution as the glue can be very hot!

Whether you are gathering with family for a special movie night or making a day of the festivities by hosting friends for a holly jolly watch party, we hope you have found some inspiration for your next holiday celebration!
